Program Model
At ArvinMeritor, we take a balanced approach to developing our future
finance leaders. The FDP program is designed around three proven
development strategies combined to provide a powerful program that enable
associates to quickly make an impact on the various ArvinMeritor
businesses while at the same time developing the attributes of a
successful leader.

Experience Strategy
FDP associates gain valuable on-the-job experience through three
formal twelve-month rotations within the Finance organization. Each
successive rotation presents progressively more challenging assignments
and grants greater responsibilities while maintaining exposure to a broad
range of business practices and experiences. Additionally, due to the
substantive nature of the various projects, associates will interact
regularly with upper management. Assignments may take participants
through a range of financial disciplines including Financial Planning &
Analysis, Corporate Accounting, External Reporting, Business Group
Finance, Internal Audit/SOX, Capital Markets, Cash Management, and
Investor Relations
Relationship Strategy
Each FDP associate is assigned a formal mentor when they enter the
program. This mentoring relationship will continue throughout the
duration of the program. Through the experiences and guidance of a
mentor, the mentee will develop insight, make observations and perform
thoughtful analyses about their necessary steps to develop into a
successful leader.
In addition to the formal mentoring process, FDP associates interact with
finance leaders and peers through various leadership development, peer
interaction and coaching exercises during monthly FDP Vision meetings.
Meetings are held at our Troy campus and provide a forum for associates
to practice and hone their “softer” skills of leadership.
Education Strategy
FDP associates are encouraged to make use of the many tools and
resources available to maintain and enhance their skills. In addition to
executive seminars, business skills courses, opportunities to pursue
additional classroom learning and support for the pursuit of professional
certifications, associates will have access to CFO University, a
web-based learning tool. CFO University was developed by Ernst & Young
and is comprised of hundreds of web-based, interactive classes on
virtually any finance topic of interest.
