ArvinMeritor Expands Vehicle Dynamics Technology Center Capabilities

STUTTGART, Germany (May 7, 2008) – ArvinMeritor, Inc. (NYSE: ARM) today announced a significant investment made in the technical capabilities of its Vehicle Dynamics Technology Center (VDTC) located in Troy, Mich., United States, to better serve OEMs throughout the world. The VDTC serves the company’s Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business group as its global center for excellence for vehicle chassis systems. Today’s announcement was made from the company’s display booth in Stuttgart, Germany at the 2008 Vehicle Dynamics Expo. The company’s Vehicle Dynamics Technology Center now boasts 58,000 sq. ft. and houses advanced engineering, testing, validation, vehicle build operations, prototyping, core damper technology and program management functions. With the expansion, the VDTC is equipped to offer aftermarket product development and technical support with additional resources for specialty products engineering, and commercial vehicle damper development and design.

Utilizing the latest virtual simulation tools – including several proprietary design models and state-of-the-art development and test equipment – ArvinMeritor’s technical support teams are developing cost-effective, efficient and scalable solutions for the ride control market. The VDTC will continue to support regional ride control technical centers in China, Europe, South America and India.

ArvinMeritor Begins Production of its Dynamic Height Control System for the Pratt & Miller C6RS Corvette

STUTTGART, Germany (May 7, 2008) – ArvinMeritor, Inc. (NYSE: ARM) announced today the start of production for the Dynamic Height Control (DHC) suspension system to be used on the Pratt & Miller C6RS Chevrolet Corvette. An example of the system is displayed in the company’s exhibit at the 2008 Vehicle Dynamics Expo in Stuttgart, Germany.

“Our Chassis Systems business is focused on ride, handling and stability – all critical elements for a successful vehicle design,” said Ed Frutig, vice president and general manager of Chassis Systems for the company’s Light Vehicle System (LVS) business group. “We offer a range of advanced smart systems™ designs for chassis technologies to meet increasing customer demand for improved fuel economy, safety and vehicle performance. The Dynamic Height Control system is one example of the new products ArvinMeritor is bringing to market that will enhance a vehicle’s ride and handling performance capabilities.”

The DHC system incorporates an electronically controlled air shock system and features light-weight, aluminum monotube air shocks and a state-of-the-art controller with proprietary software. The aluminum forged monotube shock, featuring custom digressive valve design, is based on ArvinMeritor’s RydeFX brand of performance-oriented shock absorbers. The controller and software is model-based and features auto-code generation, providing the most advanced control strategies that interface with the car’s ECU to automatically provide optimum ride height under all driving conditions. The controller also has a pressure equalization algorithm to maintain consistent spring rates.

The ArvinMeritor control logic in the DHC system automatically lowers and rakes the vehicle at higher speed for increased stability and improved aerodynamics, increasing vehicle performance and fuel economy. For aesthetic purposes, the system can also be driver-controlled at lower speeds, allowing the driver to “slam” the vehicle (lower to the ground) for low-speed cruising or parking. It also provides the ability to raise the vehicle for improved ground clearance to reduce the chance of dragging the car’s ground effects when negotiating steep inclines in driveways and parking situations.

Additional components in the systems include a high power compressor, a five-valve distribution block with integrated pressure sensors, low-friction tapered air springs, custom progressive jounce bumpers, an air reservoir and ride height sensors at each corner of the vehicle.

The DHC system is part of ArvinMeritor’s light vehicle smart systems™ portfolio, which also includes two- and four-corner standard air-suspension systems, an innovative active air-suspension system, adaptive damping and active roll-control systems. Focused on vehicle stability, ArvinMeritor’s chassis systems solutions are scalable in performance, yet modular in design. The company’s unique, modular products can be applied independently or in combination to provide an integrated chassis for active vehicle dynamic control. (NYSE: ARM) today shared details of its model-based chassis controls architecture and its electrically-driven power pack for active roll control applications from its Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business group. These products were revealed during the 2008 Vehicle Dynamics Expo in Stuttgart, Germany.

ArvinMeritor has developed a common, model-based controls architecture called Global Chassis Control (GCC) for implementation across all chassis smart systems™. This unifying vehicle dynamics algorithm controls mechatronic chassis systems. In addition, the approach maximizes algorithm reuse and shortens chassis development time, while reducing overall project risks. ArvinMeritor developed system and actuator controls, providing full support capability for stand-alone or fully integrated systems.

Also introduced today is ArvinMeritor’s patented electrically-driven power pack for use with active roll control systems. Active roll control systems are designed to improve vehicle ride, handling and stability. ArvinMeritor Announces New Body Systems Products Designed for Chinese Market

BEIJING, China (April 21, 2008) — ArvinMeritor, Inc. (NYSE: ARM) today shared details of two new products from its Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business group designed specifically for the growing Chinese and Asian markets. These products were revealed during the 2008 Auto China Beijing Automotive Exhibition.

The New Asian Latch (NAL) products are a range of modular door latch designs developed with a footprint concept specifically customized for Asian vehicle applications. With a compact size and high longitudinal strength, the range is also aimed at optimizing the sub-components for local supply and the assembly process for local manufacturing. This cost-effective and easily-packaged design is scheduled to launch on a Chinese domestic platform in the summer of 2009.

Also announced is a new sliding door latch system for Asian applications. The system features a complete closure system comprised of a controller, rear latch, hook latch, power closure actuator and all linkages and strikers. This product was developed by transplanting established and proven concepts from ArvinMeritor’s European portfolio and adapting them for Asian market requirements. As with the NAL, the new sliding door latch system is optimized specifically for local component sourcing and manufacture, and is planned to appear on the market within 12 months.

Meritor WABCO Introduces OnGuard�, the First Collision Safety System with Active Braking for North American Commercial Vehicles

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 1, 2008) � Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems today introduced OnGuard�, a new technology designed to further improve commercial vehicle safety. This industry-first technology was introduced and demonstrated here for journalists and fleet customers on the eve of a key industry equipment and technology event.

OnGuard is currently installed on nearly 200 vehicles and is targeted for third quarter 2008 availability as a factory-installed option at several OEM brands.

OnGuard is a forward-looking, radar-based adaptive cruise control system with active braking for commercial vehicles in North America. New to the North American industry, active braking improves vehicle safety by automatically using the vehicle foundation brakes to alert the driver and decelerate the vehicle when a pre-set vehicle following distance is compromised.

�As part of our ongoing efforts to improve vehicle safety for highways, drivers and fleets, OnGuard was designed to equip drivers with automated features that help ensure safe following distances and provide active braking as needed,� said Jon Morrison, president and general manager, Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems. �The driver is still the most important element in maintaining vehicle safety however, the system can provide the additional split-second deceleration needed to maintain control of the vehicle in an emergency situation.�

Automatic foundation brake intervention distinguishes OnGuard from existing passive collision warning systems, which can only alert the driver to a potentially dangerous situation through alarm and engine braking. With this new product on the truck, if the pre-determined �safe� distance is compromised, OnGuard will provide visual and audible warning to the

driver, vehicle deceleration through engine control, retarder control and most importantly, noticeable foundation braking. Foundation brake deceleration can be as great as one-third of a full brake application for the vehicle but within safe limits for the driver to take control.

Pyramid of Safety
Further advantage provided by OnGuard is that it fully integrates with the joint venture�s anti-lock braking and stability control systems. Morrison added that this allows the customer to build a pyramid of safety for the vehicle with stability control and collision safety system via a single brake ABS ECU versus having additional �add-on� systems.

According to the U.S. National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, rear-end collisions account for over 20 percent of all heavy-truck crashes. The truck is the striking vehicle in 60 percent of those accidents. Inattention or poor decisions (e.g. driving too fast for the conditions or following too closely) are the primary factor in 66 percent of the collisions where fault is assigned to the truck driver.

OnGuard�s forward-looking, mono-pulse radar sensor is capable of detecting multiple moving and fixed objects at distances up to 500 feet away. It quickly and reliably coordinates responses from the engine, transmission, and anti-lock braking systems through communications across the SAE J1939 data network. It provides feedback to the driver through the in-cab dash display, which includes a progressive audible alert.

This sequence of monitoring, warning and intervention is an important part of Meritor WABCO�s strategy to reduce false alarms. OnGuard uses a proprietary time-to-collision algorithm, unlike the simple two-second headway alarms used by today�s passive braking systems. Driver feedback from field tests covering over 10 million fleet-miles over a two-year period showed significantly better performance, reliability, and driver confidence in OnGuard compared to collision warning systems currently available in North America.

Comprehensive Sales and Support Network
This new product, as well as all other Meritor WABCO products, will be supported by ArvinMeritor�s comprehensive sales and support systems. ArvinMeritor�s North American sales and service organization sells, services and supports the products to fleets, dealers and OEMs. Extensive support mechanisms exist in the form of aftermarket parts, warranty administration, troubleshooting, and online technical and reference support.

ArvinMeritor Gets HIP to smart systems� � Announces Contract with Hyundai North America for Plastic Door Modules

TROY, Mich. (Jan. 24, 2008) � ArvinMeritor, Inc. (NYSE: ARM) announced today that its Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business group has been awarded a multi-year contract to supply Hyundai North America with an innovative plastic door module and accompanying corporate latch product for the new Hyundai Sonata. Production is scheduled to begin in March 2010.

The highly integrated plastic (HIP) door module will replace the current steel version, and is part of ArvinMeritor�s smart systems� product strategy to combine electronics and controls with heritage mechanical components to enhance vehicle systems performance. The HIP uses an innovative composite construction to intelligently integrate the electro-mechanical and modular components, saving up to 25 percent in weight and representing the first application of plastic door module technology at Hyundai. It is also the first such ArvinMeritor product to appear on the North American market.

The Hyundai Global Latch (HGL) will be delivered alongside the HIP and is ArvinMeritor�s next generation corporate latch for Hyundai. This product is an adaptable global concept based upon robust ArvinMeritor functional modules and provides improvements in security, weight, packaging and cost.

Both of these products will be manufactured in North America with an initial annual volume projected to be approximately 700,000 units each.

Meritor WABCO Unveils New Trailer Stability Enhancement System; Offers Improved Trailer Intelligence

TROY, Mich., (Dec. 11, 2007) - Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems today introduced its new Roll Stability Support trailer system, RSSplus�, designed specifically for the North American trailer industry to offer more advanced features and added value.

RSSplus will be available in late first quarter 2008 through trailer original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and as an aftermarket retrofit through trailer OEM dealers.

Continuing a history of delivering customer desired solutions, the new system builds upon the company�s current RSS offering which incorporates its industry-leading ABS functionality with other pertinent safety features such as improved roll mitigation. The system retains Meritor WABCO�s field-proven, side-by-side wheel end control which provides superior stability management and helps prevent tire flat spotting and abnormal tire wear. Additionally, the system offers simplified installation and advanced �intelligent� communication capabilities through on-board data recording with event broadcasting capability via Power Line Carrier (PLC) communications or telematic devices.

Meritor WABCO introduced its first trailer stability system, RSS, in 2003. Today, there are over 4,000 of the company�s units in place with several OEMs adopting the technology as standard equipment on their trailers.

Advanced Features

RSSplus is a premium 2-modulator (2M) roll mitigation system that integrates several features, including ABS and PLC functionality, reducing individual component requirements. The new system is also compatible for use with spring suspensions, as well as air ride suspensions.

A new cable connector system allows for more positive connections and cable stabilization to prevent damage and mitigate potential problems with connector corrosion.

Standardized SAE diagnostics make troubleshooting much simpler and are now a conventional feature of the system. The diagnostics have also been integrated into the company�s TOOLBOX� PC software. System diagnostics can also be performed using standard blink codes which eliminate the cost of additional diagnostic tools.

By adding Power Line Carrier (PLC) capability to the RSSplus electronic control unit (ECU), the system can communicate between the tractor and trailer utilizing a PLC display. Additional messaging can also be accommodated via telematic devices. Examples of events that can be communicated include suspension weight, tire pressure, wheel-end temperatures or other customer-specific data. On-board data recording within the ECU allows for the retention of vehicle performance data in the ECU memory to enhance fleet management. Such �intelligent� data can be utilized to help improve operating efficiencies.

�With the new system being designed exclusively for the North American market, many of the advanced features, such as standardized SAE diagnostics, incorporate requirements identified specifically by our customers,� said Bob Sibley, director, Meritor WABCO Trailer Products. �These features provide the additional support expected from a stability system, plus offer added value for the customer�s operation.�

Applications

Configurations of the new system include: 2S/2M1, 4S/2M and 4S/2M + 1 (for most 4S/3M requirements). Applications include vans, reefer units, flat beds, tankers, hazardous material haulers, B-trains and high center of gravity trailers. Design of the new system includes capabilities that are compatible with current tractor stability technologies as well as future technologies. RSSplus is also backward-compatible with existing trailers in the marketplace making it an ideal retrofit technology.

ArvinMeritor Supplies Dynamic Height Control System for the C6RS Chevrolet Corvette Concept Car at the SEMA Show

(NYSE: ARM) announced today that it is the supplier of the Dynamic Height Control (DHC) suspension system used on the Pratt & Miller C6RS Chevrolet Corvette concept car on display at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas.

�Ride and handling are key elements of a successful vehicle design,� said Ed Frutig, vice president and general manager of Light Vehicle System (LVS) Chassis Systems for ArvinMeritor. �SEMA provides a glimpse of the future chassis technologies you may see on tomorrow�s production vehicles as it relates to styling, performance, and even fuel economy. The Dynamic Height Control system is one example of the new products ArvinMeritor is now bringing to market that will significantly enhance a vehicle�s ride, stability, safety and performance capabilities.�

The DHC system incorporates an electronically controlled air shock system and features light-weight, aluminum monotube air shocks and a state-of-the-art controller with proprietary software. The controller and software feature the most advanced control strategies which interface with the car�s ECU to automatically provide optimum ride height under all driving conditions.

The ArvinMeritor control logic in the DHC system automatically lowers and rakes the vehicle at higher speed for increased stability and improved aerodynamics, increasing vehicle performance. For aesthetic purposes, the system can also be driver-controlled at lower speeds, allowing the driver to �slam� the vehicle (lower to the ground) for low-speed cruising or parking. It also provides the ability to raise the vehicle for improved ground clearance to reduce the chance of dragging the car�s ground effects when negotiating steep inclines in driveways and parking situations. When the vehicle is not running, it can still be raised and lowered with a control mounted in the key fob.

The DHC system is part of ArvinMeritor�s light vehicle smart systems� portfolio, which also includes two- and four-corner standard air-suspension systems, an innovative active air-suspension system, adaptive damping and active roll-control systems.
