Purolator to Award Custom Boat, Truck to Bassmaster Bass Angler of the Year at AAPEX Show
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 2,
2004) — Purolator, a primary brand of
ArvinMeritor, Inc. (NYSE: ARM), will award a custom 21-foot
Skeeter boat and 2004 Chevy Silverado LT tow vehicle used on the CITGO
Bassmaster Tournament trail to a lucky contest winner at the Automotive
Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) here. Purolator is a primary sponsor of BASS,
the worldwide authority on bass fishing.
The boat and truck were the grand prize in the
contest, and will be awarded by Dan Daniel, ArvinMeritor’s senior vice president
and president of its Light Vehicle Aftermarket organization, to the lucky winner
in the Venetian Hotel Ballroom on the grounds of the Sands Expo Center.
The Skeeter boat and Silverado truck are valued at $66,500 and are believed to
be the largest prize scheduled to be awarded at the AAPEX show.
“We’ve been extremely proud to be a premier sponsor
of the CITGO Bassmaster Tournament trail this year, at which we have met so many
of our loyal customers,” said Daniel. “This tournament sponsorship has
been a vehicle that has allowed us to reach out to them and strengthen our
relationship, while having some good times and enjoying some competitive bass
fishing, a growing sport here in the United States.”
The company announced the contest in May for the
boat and truck – which ran from June 1 through August 14 – and has had greater
than expected participation from sportsmen who followed the CITGO Bassmaster
Tournament trail, Daniel said. The boat and truck are being awarded this
year in addition to Purolator’s Big Bass Fan Award, which was presented at the
CITGO Bassmaster Classic to a lucky fan on the final day of competition.
The winner, Lonny Sochor, from St. Cloud, Fla., was awarded $5,000 from
Purolator.
