LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 19, 2003) —
ArvinMeritor Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket today at the Mid-America Trucking
Show announced the release of Meritor™ MA312 friction material. The new material
provides superior stopping capabilities for the demanding applications of
linehaul and vocational vehicle operations, and surpasses FMVSS 121 requirements
with both full cast and lightweight SteelLite X30™ brake drums.
MA312 is a premium, longer-life 23,000 lb. gross
axle weight rated (GAWR) material that offers excellent performance and up to
20-percent longer life over comparable mixes, for life-cycle maintenance cost
reduction. It can be used both on- and off-highway in a full variety of ground
terrains and is recommended for construction, refuse and other heavy hauling
applications. MA312 is rated for 23,000 lb. GAWR at 180 AL (T30 chamber x 6”
slack adjuster).
“MA312 completes our comprehensive friction
offering for the Meritor brand,” said Harry Howard, vice president and general
manager, ArvinMeritor Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket. “We are committed to
providing our customers the highest level of quality parts and services, and
this new lining has deepened our ability to do so.”
MA312 is a complement to the current Meritor
friction offering, comprised of MA210, MA212 and MA310. MA210 is designed for,
and used extensively in the Meritor High Performance Brake package. MA212 is the
standard Meritor 20,000 lb. gross axle weight rated (GAWR) brake lining for OEM
production brakes. MA310 has been developed as the standard Meritor
23,000 lb. gross axle weight rated (GAWR) brake lining for vocational vehicle
operations.
