Sergio Carvalho is vice president and general manager, Suspension Systems, Trailer Products and Ride Control for ArvinMeritor's Commercial Vehicle Systems (CVS) group. In this position, he is responsible for the overall strategic management and direction of the company's suspension systems, trailer and ride control product lines.

In 1975, Carvalho joined ArvinMeritor's predecessor, Rockwell Automotive in Brazil and held engineering management positions of increasing responsibility in the company's axle business. In 1996, following three years as director of Sales and Marketing in South America, he was named sales and service director for the axle business. Two years later, Carvalho moved to CVS' Worldwide Bus and Coach group as general manager in ArvinMeritor's Troy, Mich., U.S. Headquarters. In 1999, he became vice president and general manager for Bus and Coach, as well as Military. The following year, Carvalho's responsibility expanded to include Suspension Systems, Trailer Products and Ride Control.

Fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, Carvalho holds a bachelor's degree in nuclear physics from the University of Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
