ArvinMeritor is a founding member of Automation Alley, a consortium of high-tech businesses in the Detroit, Mich., area. Chairman and CEO Larry Yost welcomed Automation Alley members to a networking event at ArvinMeritor Headquarters in Troy, Mich.

Yost talked about ArvinMeritor's community involvement and its Community Excellence Award, which annually recognizes exemplary community contributions by an employee. He acknowledged the 2000 winner, Jens Kurchenacker, an engineer from the Finnentrop, Germany.

In addition, Yost briefly discussed Automation Alley's goal to compete with high-tech U.S. regions such as Silicon Valley, Boston Route 128 and Research Triangle, N.C. Finally, he encouraged members to get involved in these efforts and be an ambassador for Automation Alley.
