During the first annual shareowners meeting of the new ArvinMeritor, Chairman and CEO Larry Yost reviewed the benefits of the ArvinMeritor merger, went over financial results, provided an update on the status of merger integration process, and looked at current economic and industry trends. He discussed key initiatives for financial growth, including undercarriage and corner modules strategies, which combine Arvin and Meritor products into an integrated solution. Yost also stressed that the company is identifying and implementing best practices across the organization as well as leveraging Arvin's light vehicle exhaust technology to develop exhaust and emission solutions for commercial trucks.

Yost's financial report reflected disappointment in the expected downturn of the auto industry. But although ArvinMeritor's financial results were not as strong as everyone had hoped, the company is taking aggressive measures to drive down costs and deliver improved financial performance that will strengthen its position in the marketplace. Despite a weak market outlook, ArvinMeritor's progress with the merger integration process, cost synergies, operational improvements and cost-reduction initiatives will help the company establish a strong foundation for future growth.
